Robert McCrossen, centre, with Maydena community members |
Last night's annual general meeting of the Maydena Community Association included a tribute to Mr McCrossen, who has attended the group's monthly meetings in his own time for many years. MCA president Lynne Graham thanked Mr McCrossen for his many personal contributions to the Maydena community and said he would be missed. In reply Robert said he had enjoyed his association with the community and he encouraged the association to continue its good works. He assured those present that his connection with the town was not ending. Mrs Graham made a presentation on behalf of the association and wider Tyenna Valley community.
Tonight at Bushy Park it was the turn of the Loyal Glenora Lodge and the Bushy Park Swimming Pool Committe to pay tribute. Presentations were made by lodge representative Cedric Mann and pool committee treasurer Lisa Fraser. Their remarks struck a chord with all those present.
A formal farewell took place at the Derwent Valley Council's new volunteer recognition afternoon last Friday, where the speakers included deputy mayor Barry Lathey and general manager Stephen Mackey.
