Washing your hands for 20 seconds is one of the most effective forms of infection control. Do this after blowing your nose, coughing or sneezing; after close physical contact with anyone who is unwell; after using the toilet; before and after eating; before, during and after preparing food; and after feeding or touching a pet.

Olympians return

THREE of the Derwent Valley's four 2012 Olympians returned home on Wednesday. Dana Faletic, Kate Hornsey, Anthony Edwards and Kerry Hore arrived in Sydney early that morning, aboard a special Qantas flight that brought most of Australia's Olympians home.

Anthony, Dana and Kerry continued on to Hobart, arriving late in the afternoon. Kate will be home later this week in time for the official welcome home on the Parliament House lawns on Saturday. See the Mercury for more information.
