Thousands without power

EXTREME winds overnight have left thousands of homes without electricity this morning, including about 2000 in the Derwent Valley.
  • 907 customers in the upper Derwent Valley affected due to trees on power lines. No restoration time as at 10am.
  • About 900 customers in New Norfolk and surrounds affected due to a tree through powerlines.

Fentonbury affected since 5.48am due to damage by trees - long delays expected
Glenora affected since 5.48am due to damage by trees - long delays expected
Gretna affected since 5.48am due to damage by trees - long delays expected
Hayes affected since 5.48am due to damage by trees - long delays expected

Power supplies in New Norfolk appear to have been restored.

12.30PM UPDATE: Aurora advises that power has been restored in the upper Derwent Valley.
