Weather Situation
A cold front has crossed Tasmania. Temperatures have dropped, winds have eased and relative humidities have increased.
For the rest of Sunday February 9: The Fire Weather Warning for the Furneaux Islands, Central North, North East, East Coast, Midlands, Upper Derwent Valley and South East forecast districts has been cancelled.
The Tasmania Fire Service advises you to:
- Check your bushfire survival plan - Now.
- Monitor the fire and weather situation on ABC radio or through www.fire.tas.gov.au.
- If power supplies fail, listen on your car radio.

Severe Weather Warning for damaging winds
for people in the Upper Derwent Valley, Central North, North East, Western, Midlands, East Coast and South East forecast districts.

Damaging winds in the eastern half of Tasmania
Weather Situation
A cold front and trough will cross Tasmania during today with an associated low to pass south of the state.
Damaging winds around 60km/h with peak gusts of 110km/h are forecast for the Central North, East Coast, Upper Derwent Valley and South East forecast districts and parts of the North East, Western and Midlands forecast districts.
To 2pm, wind gusts have reached 154km/h at Scotts Peak, 135km/h at Maatsuyker Island and 102km/h on Mount Wellington.
The State Emergency Service and Tasmania Police advise that people should:
- Secure or put away loose items around your house, yard and balcony.
- Take care when driving on exposed roads, bridges and causeways. Remain indoors as much as possible.
- Keep clear of fallen power lines.
The next warning will be issued by 11pm Sunday.
