Round 18 (final round before finals)

FIRST GRADE - Saturday
New Norfolk I finished its season in style with a good 50-run win over Campania at Campania. The Red Caps lost the toss and were sent into bat, making 10 for 192 off 42.5 overs. Captain Rohan Heron opened the batting making 34 (four 4s) while coach Dave Maddox made 30 (three 4s). Aaron Drew got 25 and Stewart Rice 19.  In reply Campania was all out for 142 in 29.3 overs. Stewart Rice used his experience capturing 5-48 off nine overs in a great display of bowling. Brad Kemmler 2-4 off 2.3 and Kendall Bluett 2-34 off 6 did well while Josh Dykes picked up the other wicket 1-30 off 9. While New Norfolk won't play finals, it has preformed very well in its first season in the highest grade of the competition.

SECOND GRADE - Saturday
Molesworth I continued on its winning way with a good five-wicket win over Gretna I in the Ben Eyles Memorial match. Gretna was sent into bat and was bowled out for 108 off 30.1 overs due to some great bowling from Molesworth's Dean King who together with stand-in captain Brad Coppleman tore through Gretna's top order to have the home side 6 for 60. King was awarded the Ben Eyles Medal for player of the match and finished with figures of 4-22 off 6 overs, while Coppleman took 2-19 off 7. From there Brayden Hodge cleaned up the tail taking 3-12 off 5.1 overs. The other wicket was a runout. For Gretna, Todd Jarvis 27 runs and Jack Gregson 23 were the only batsmen to have any impact. In reply, Molesworth got the runs. Corey Ransley claimed all the wickets, finishing with 4-26 off 10 overs. Craig Cunningham got the last wicket, getting 1-4 off 2 overs. Molesworth finished 5 for 109 off 23.3 overs, Daniel Adams top-scoring with 29 runs (4 fours) and Brad Coppleman capped off a good game with 28 which included 5 fours. Molesworth will now have the double chance to grab a shot at winning the big one, while its mothballs for Gretna until next season.

THIRD GRADE - Saturday
Bushy Park had a seven-wicket win over Gretna II at Bushy Park. Winning the toss and batting, Gretna made 7 for 174 off its allotted 50 overs. Captain Damien Hack made 53 opening the batting, while down the order the vintage Brian Smith received a sporting guard of honour from the Bushy Park players and again top-scored with a fine 55 not out. Smith hit 8 fours and a six, bringing up his fifty with a great pull shot for off the bowling of paceman Mitchell Crosswell. Young Ryan Emery in just his second match made 21 not out with 4 fours, putting on a very good 40 run partnership with Smith. Spinner Nick Fenton was Bushy Park's main wicket-taker with 2-32 off 10. In reply Bushy Park chased down the runs with seven wickets in hand, finishing 3 for 175 off 25.2 overs. This was thanks to a great knock from Shaun Fenton who made a fine 77 not out. Fenton put on a great partnership of 106 with Dylan Grant who made 25 not out. Openers Troy Smith 32 and Nathan Grant 16 also did well. Brock Nichols was the main wicket taker for Gretna with 2-52 off 7 overs while Zac Crosswell took 1-20 off 6 overs.  Well done to Jordan Hastie for playing his 50th game with Gretna II.
 
FOURTH GRADE - Sunday
In its final match for the season, New Norfolk II went down to Bagdad by just one wicket at Tynwald Park. Sent into bat, the Red Caps made 9 for 193 off 50 overs. Ashley Morgan 69 (six 4s, one 6) and Stephen Nichols 49 (five 4s) did very well for their side. Leigh Berry chipped in with 26. In reply Bagdad just got over the line finishing 9 for 194 off 47.5 overs. Captain Josh Walsh 3-36 off 10 and Mitch Rice 3-50 off 8.5 led the way with the ball. While Ashley Morgan capped off a great day taking 2-27 off 10 with his spinners and Leigh Berry got 1-20 from 5 overs. This side has a lot of youth and will take plenty of experience from this season to next.
 
FIFTH GRADE - Sunday
In a great all-round performance from Jye County, Molesworth II booked itself a qualifying final spot with a big 137 run win over Richmond/Cambridge at Richmond. County made 48 with the bat and then went about dismantling the opposition batting line up, taking 5-22 off 10 overs. County has turned it on of late and with finals starting this weekend, what a good time to be in good form. Brad Ransley, also in good form, top-scored with a fine 64 not out which included 4 fours and 2 sixes. Josh Bomford made 23 while Nick Piuselli made 22 and Molesworth finished 9 for 218 off 50 overs. In reply, the home team was all out for just 81 off 25.2 overs. Alongside County's five wickets, Jordan Eiszele took 2-6 from 2.2 overs and Aaron Triffitt got 2-42 off 10.
