POLICE are seeking witnesses to a two-vehicle crash on the Lyell Highway that left two local people seriously injured on Wednesday afternoon. Three people were taken to the Royal Hobart Hospital following the crash that occurred near Granton at about 4.40pm.
Involved in the head-on collision were a westward-bound white Toyota Corolla sedan being driven by a 67-year-old New Norfolk and a blue Subaru station wagon which was being driven in the opposite direction by a 46-year-old woman from Glenfern.
"The driver and sole occupant of the Toyota was extricated from the vehicle by emergency service personnel. He and the driver of the Subaru were conveyed to the Royal Hobart Hospital. The passenger in the Subaru, a 64-year-old man from Glenfern was also conveyed to the Royal Hobart Hospital," Acting Sergeant Bradley Coulson said.
"The crash occurred on a straight section of road. At the time the weather was fine and roadway dry. Due to the crash the Lyell Highway was closed for a period of approximately four hours whilst investigations were made and the scene was cleared," Acting Sergeant Coulson said.
