There are dozens of bushfires burning in Tasmania, many of these fires are burning in South West Tasmania.
With approximately 70 fires in the landscape there is likely to be widespread smoke. These fires are producing thick smoke which is likely to impact different localities during the days ahead.
There is no direct threat to communities.
There may be smoke and ash from this fire visible around Derwent Valley, Greater Hobart area, Huon Valley, Bruny Island and D'entrecasteaux Channel.
What to do:
- People with medical conditions are advised to have a personal plan for avoiding smoke from the burn. Advice is available from the Department of Health or the Asthma Foundation of Tasmania
- People traveling in the area should exercise caution if driving in smoke. Turn on your headlights and drive slowly.
- If you live in the area of the fire, stay informed in case conditions change by monitoring local radio stations and the Tasmania Fire Service website.
