Australia's state and federal governments are taking action to help slow the spread of COVID-19. Use the links above to source the latest advice about what you can do to protect yourself and others. Washing your hands for 20 seconds is one of the most effective forms of infection control. Do this after blowing your nose, coughing or sneezing; after close physical contact with anyone who is unwell; after using the toilet; before and after eating; before, during and after preparing food; and after feeding or touching a pet.

Update on access to parks and reserves

WITH a number of fires continuing to burn in national parks and reserves in Tasmania, some tracks, roads and areas have been closed until further notice in the interest of public safety.

The Parks and Wildlife Service encourages all those planning to visit the state’s national parks and reserves to:

  • stay informed in case conditions change 
  • check in at visitor centres for the latest information, 
  • heed advice at track heads, 
  • follow directions of PWS staff at national parks and reserves; and 
  • monitor the PWS & Tasmania Fire Service  websites and ABC local radio.
Mt Field National Park 
Day-use areas and the visitor centre remain open but all alpine walking tracks are closed.

Southwest National Park
Remote area walking tracks Maydena are closed. This includes Lake Rhona, Vale of Rasselas, The Spires, Lake Curly, Timbs Track, Twisted Sister, Denison Traverse, Styx Big Tree Reserve, Mt Wedge, The Needles, Marriotts Falls, Junee Cave, Adamsfield, Mt Anne Circuit, Western Arthurs, Eastern Arthurs, Mt Sprent, Frankland Range, Farmhouse Creek Track, Huon Track, Yoyo Track, Moonlight Ridge Track and Precipitous Bluff Circuit.

South West Conservation Area
Tracks in the Birches Inlet to Low Rocky Point section of the reserve are closed.

Great Pine Tier, Central Plateau 
Lake Fergus and Little Pine Lagoon are closed.

Road and vehicle track closures 
Scotts Peak Rd, Lake Dobson Rd, Styx Rd, Dawson Rd, Florentine Rd, Morley Track, Clearhill Rd, Sawback Track, Muller Rd.

Campground closures
Huon, Edgar and Tedds Beach campgrounds.
