Drama on Montagu St

FIREFIGHTERS remain at the scene of a structure fire in Montagu St, New Norfolk, which was first reported nearly three hours ago at 7.40pm. Two heavy tankers and other vehicles from the New Norfolk Fire Brigade attended, finding one of three flats at 20 Montagu St to be fully engulfed in flames. The female occupant of the flat was unharmed.

A crew from Magra Fire Brigade arrived to support their New Norfolk colleagues, and they were soon joined by police and ambulance officers. Firefighters initially searched the premises to ensure they were vacant and quickly turned their attention to dousing the fire, which was expected to cause extensive damage to the old brick building.
