Open to boys and girls aged seven to 15, the KidFit Triathlons inspire children to get off the couch and get active in a friendly and supportive environment where the emphasis is on enjoying the experience rather than competition. Distances are specially tailored for different age groups so that children of varying abilities can successfully complete the course and feel the thrill of becoming a real triathlete.
The series is the result of a collaboration between "Life. Be in it" and the Bupa Foundation. A pleasing number of children took part in the event last Saturday, which was part of a series of five junior triathlons around Tasmania. Spokesman Stephen Dimsey thanked all participants, parents, sponsors, supporters, Life Be in it crew and local volunteers from the Lions Club of New Norfolk and St John Ambulance.

This reminds me of a sign reportedly seen outside a church in Hawthorn in Melbourne that read: "What would you do if Christ came to Hawthorn?" and someone replied - "move Peter Hudson to Centre Half-Forward". See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bob_Keddie. There are variations on the story - see http://www.chessmoves.com/1971mag.htm, though most seem to have him moved to centre half forward.
