Junior best and fairest named

100-gamers Dylan Pearce & Jacob Daley
THE New Norfolk Junior Football Club held its Under 13-15 best and fairest count at the New Norfolk District Football Clubrooms on Friday night.
  • In the Under 15 count, Jacob Daley collected 57 votes to take out the Geoff and Carol Horne best and fairest medal, well clear of runner-up Brandon King (39 votes).
  • The Under 14s Peter Birchall Medal was won by Hayden Smith. Hayden won with 43 votes, ahead of runners-up Hayden Bielleman and Brayden Chaplin on 29 votes each.
  • In the Under 13s Stephen and Tina Rhodes Medal it was a very close count with Cooper Triffitt taking the honours with 34 votes, just three votes clear of runner-up Dakoda Smith on 31 votes.
The night was well attended and many stayed on to watch the NNDFC colts, reserves and senior medal counts afterwards. The idea to hold the junior count in conjunction with the senior club B&F counts was a great initiative and those who organised this should be congratulated. It is great to see the junior and senior clubs working together.

Another great initiative this season was the naming of medals after some long serving members of the NNJFC. This shows great respect to those who have made the junior club what it is today. On behalf of all the parents I would like to take this opportunity to thank the terrific and hard-working Chris Lovell, Kathy Adams and David Banks who have yet again done a superb job in running the NNJFC. Their hard work is very much appreciated, thank you.  Congratulations to all trophy winners and see you all next season.
