Under 14s storm into finals

Joshua Whitford-Marriott
ON Friday night in yet another great display of footy, the New Norfolk Under 14s defeated North Hobart by a whopping 81 points under lights at Tynwald Park. The Eagles dominated the entire game with the Demons being outclassed in every position held goal-less until the final quarter. The young Eagles had winners all over the ground.

Best-on-ground Joshua Whitford-Marriott played a terrific game, finding the footy from all parts of the ground. He had his opponents in a spin and also kicked two great goals. Jakob Triffitt played a great game also, having come into some great form in recent weeks. Ever-reliable Brayden Chaplin and Josh Challenger played their usual top games, while Charlie Stewart was again damaging up forward, kicking three goals.

Ruckman Jahrod Locher again showed his stuff and is running into some great form, while Kye Tomkinson, the hard running Josh Berry and Hayden Smith booted two great majors each. Hayden Bielleman, Jahrod Locher, Joshua Raspin and Nathan Wakefield all contributed, kicking a goal each.

The Under 14s have now won nine games from the 13 played, finishing third on the ladder. New Norfolk will play North Hobart in the first semi-final at KGV Oval, Glenorchy, this Sunday at 9.30am. We will wear black shorts and will use the Glenorchy Football Club change rooms.

New Norfolk will start hot favourites after Friday night's win, but finals can be a totally different ball game. I'm sure the team will be jumping out of their skins for this is the first time they will have played in the finals. Coach Josh Clifford will have them all ready to go and my tip is the Eagles won't let this opportunity slip as they have waited for this for quite some time. The hunger in their eyes says it all.

A friendly reminder to all that go along to the game: win, lose or draw, it's all about the kids. The umpires decisions are final and that must be respected for the entire game. Everybody's behaviour counts. See you at the footy. "CARN THE EAGLES!"
