For Sunday, February 26: Very High Fire Danger is forecast for the following forecast districts: Upper Derwent Valley, Central Plateau, Midlands, East Coast and King Island. Maximum temperatures around 36 degrees, relative humidity down to 15% and northerly winds averaging 30 to 35 km/h are expected.
Total fire ban: Sunday, February 26, 2012, has been declared a day of total fire ban for the whole state. No fires may be lit or be allowed to remain alight in the open air until 11.59pm, Sunday, February 26.
The Tasmania Fire Service advises you to:
- Check your bush fire survival plan - now
- Monitor the fire and weather situation on ABC radio or through www.fire.tas.gov.au
- If power supplies fail, listen on your car radio
- Get ready now to leave for a safe place
- Leave immediately if fire breaks out near you
- Only stay if your home is well prepared to withstand fire and you can actively defend it
