A night on the green

Carols by Candlelight at Tynwald Park on Friday night.
Thanks to Wade Gleeson for this photo.
THE still-unfinished "sound shell" at Tynwald Park was the venue for the Derwent Valley Carols by Candlelight last Friday. A tarpaulin was strung up behind the stage to provide temporary acoustic support for the evening.

Moved from their traditional Monday night fixture for the first time since the event started in the mid-1980s, the carols were attended by about 250 people who braved cool conditions for a night of family entertainment.
