New Norfolk Christmas Parade

in the Christmas Parade.
PERHAPS the biggest crowd yet turned out to watch the New Norfolk Christmas Parade earlier today. Held in cool and overcast conditions, the annual pageant had about 30 entries and each run of High St took about 20 minutes.

Organised for the first time by the Lions Club of New Norfolk and the Derwent Valley Rotary Club for the New Norfolk Business Alliance, the event concluded with Santa Claus riding along High St in the front part of the Lions Club train.

DECEMBER 22 UPDATE: Details of the winning entries have been received today: Over all joint winners: New Norfolk Scouts and Connecting Schools and Community - Upper Derwent Valley. Emergency services category joint winners: Magra Fire Brigade and New Norfolk Ambulance volunteers. Entertainment category joint winners: Derwent Valley Players and Derwent Scottish Pipe Band. Community service category:  Derwent Valley 4WD Club. Business category: New Norfolk Guardian Pharmacy.
