Kathy's special guests were her husband Phil and daughter Rachael, mum Nita Davey and sister Lynne Hanlon, as well as lifelong friends John and Vanessa Hastie and Kim and Leeanne Clark. Phil and Kathy's younger daughter, Rebecca, was in England and unable to attend.
In a Women's National Basketball League career spanning 135 games, the three time Most Valuable Player (1985, 1986, 1989) was also a member of the 1989 and 1990 WNBL All Star Five.
At the international level, Kathy represented Australia at the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles and two World Championships (1983 and 1986). Her crowning moment came in 1991 when she played a significant role in bringing a WNBL title to Hobart with the Islanders’ victory over the Nunawading Spectres.
After hanging up her sneakers at the end of 1992, Kathy has remained involved via coaching positions at all levels with a particular focus on her students at The Fahan School in Sandy Bay where she is deputy principal. Kathy also taught at New Norfolk High School for several years. Thanks to Lynne Hanlon for the photos featured here.
