Small fire at New Norfolk Hospital

FIREFIGHTERS have made quick work of a blaze in an air-conditioning unit at the New Norfolk Hospital this evening. The fire was reported by a passerby at 5.50pm. Patients were evacuated for a short time but have been returned to their wards without incident.

It has been a busy day for the volunteer firefighters of the Derwent Valley, starting with an alarm call in Lower Rd, New Norfolk, at 5.14am. Other callouts included  a structure fire at Ironestone Gully Rd, Lachlan, at 1pm; a fire at Isaac Rd, Black Hills around 4pm; a vegetation fire at Gordon River Rd, Westerway, at 5pm; and a smoke investigation on the Hollow Tree Rd at 6.15pm.
