Twenty20 cricket

GRETNA had a great win over Claremont last Tuesday (November 26) at Abbotsfield Park. Gretna was bowled out for 147 just short of the allotted 20 overs. Ben Rainbird made an excellent 68 off 32 balls and amazingly he didn't score off the first nine balls he faced. In reply Claremont went very close, needing a six to tie the match. Off the last ball Corey Ransley took his third catch for the night, dismissing Claremont batsman S. McLean just inside the long-on boundary.

Scores: Gretna 10 for 147 off 19.2 overs (8 extras) d Claremont 8 for 141 off 20 overs. Gretna batting: Ben Rainbird 68 off 32 balls (7-4s, 4-6s), Mathew Burns 18 (2-4s), Craig Cunningham 13 (1-4). Gretna bowling: Craig Cunningham 2-20 (2), Peter Jelkic 2-28 (4), Corey Ransley 1-14 (2), Mathew Burns 1-20 (4), Aaron Maddox 1-21 (3), Ben Rainbird 1-26 (4).

Last week I mentioned the hat-trick of Matthew Siely for Molesworth in their Twenty20 match. Well  it wasn't just a hat-trick for Siely. Team-mate Nathan Eiszele caught all three batsmen! Now that's a real hat trick and must be some sort of a record. Eiszele took four catches for the match.
