Washing your hands for 20 seconds is one of the most effective forms of infection control. Do this after blowing your nose, coughing or sneezing; after close physical contact with anyone who is unwell; after using the toilet; before and after eating; before, during and after preparing food; and after feeding or touching a pet.

Learn to swim at Bushy Park

SWIMMING lessons are again being offered at the Bushy Park Pool this summer. Lifeguard Sharyn Loller is offering three levels of training.
  • Bronze Squad: fitness and water safety, work towards Bronze Star award. Suitable for swimmers who can confidently swim one lap of each freestyle, backstroke and breaststroke. Available 6-6.45pm Monday and Wednesday, and 8.45-9.30am Saturday. Cost: $5 per head plus pool entry fee.
  • Intensive Learn to Swim/stroke correction during the holidays: Avaiable 10am-noon Monday to Friday, starting January 6. 30-minute lessons, block of five for $40, small class sizes.
  • Learn to swim: 9.30-10am Saturday, 9am-10am Sunday and other times outside of pool opening hours by negotiation. Small class sizes. Cost: $10 per lesson for 20-30 minutes depending on water temperature.

Bushy Park War Memorial Swimming Pool is at 601 Gordon River Rd, Bushy Park, and is open from 3.15pm-6pm on weekdays and 10am-6pm on weekends. The solar-heated pool is 33m in length. Facilities include a kiosk, barbecue area, dressing rooms and an outdoor shower. Free sunscreen is available. Entry fees: $3 (ages 17 and over), $1.50 (child or spectator), Under 4s free with parents. Season passes: family $130, child $50, adult $60.
