THE State Government has received and accepted an offer for the sale of the former Hayes Prison Farm property, Corrections Minister Vanessa Goodwin said today. She said further details of the sale would be released after a 30-day settlement period.
"Hayes Prison Farm was originally put up for sale by the former Labor-Green Government in 2011, but was just another example of a botched process that ended up costing the taxpayer around $200,000 per year for maintenance and ongoing costs," Dr Goodwin said.
"It is very pleasing that an acceptable offer has been made and we look forward to settlement being reached next month," she said.
The Mercury has more.
