Youth league cricket

Youth League Cricket
Round 8

The Gretna Under 13s had a good match with New Town, going down by 26 runs. Zac Wheeler with 19 not out and Brayden Butler with 14no were the top scorers. Bailey Wheeler took 1-14 with the ball.

In a very close match New Norfolk Under 13s went down to University by one run. Dylan Browning batted very well making 13 not out as did Riley Higgins with a good score of 10no. Jordan Gittus was the pick of the Red Cap bowlers, finishing with the fine figures of 3-4 off four overs.

Gretna Under 15s went down to top-placed Sorell by 56 runs. Jake Campbell was the main run scorer with 63 (nine 4s). He also took one wicket for Gretna as did Blake Eyles and Blake Mayne.

In the New Norfolk v Kingston Under 15s match New Norfolk went down by six wickets. Jye Bearman played a lone hand with a superb 41 while Nathan Rice 9 and Cody Young 8no showed great support. Nathan Rice also did well with the ball, taking 2-17 as did Rhys Franklin 1-28 and Jye Bean 1-26. The boys are showing great promise.

Molesworth Under 15s went down to Wellington by 118 runs. No other details were available.

The Country Challenge Cup for players up to Grade 6 will be held on the 8th and 9th of January 8-9, 2015, on grounds in and around Hobart.  The Derwent Valley team won last season under coach Darren Stevenson. This season the coach is Brad Kemmler.
