Highlights of last weekend's cricket

Mitchell, Stewart and Nathan Rice.
SOUTHERN CRICKET ASSOCIATION
Derwent Valley matches
Round 10 highlights

THE first grade match between New Norfolk I and Claremont was a first for the Rice family in more ways than one. Firstly Stewart Rice and his sons Mitchell, 18, and Nathan, 13, played together in the same match for the first time. What's more it was also the boys' first grade debut. To cap it all off, New Norfolk I won by two wickets and recorded its first back to back wins in first grade.

After Molesworth I batted first and made just 137 in its second grade match against Claremont, Dean King had a terrific spell with the ball and bowled his team to victory taking 5 for 14 off 10 overs.

In third grade, Bushy Park player Dale Fenton played his first match in a number of seasons and produced a fair comeback effort to say the least. Fenton took 4-48 off 10 overs, a runout, and then made 13 not out in the run chase, which Bushy Park won by six wickets. Good to see you back Dale. And just to add, the Bushy Park team consisted of three Crosswells, three Grants, three Fentons and two Smiths.

Also in third grade, Gretna II's Dylan Pearce helped guide his team to a 24-run victory over Campania taking 5 for 49 off 10 overs.

In New Norfolk IIs big eight-wicket win over Lindisfarne in fourth grade, Richard Graham bowled very well to finish with figures of 3-4 off just two overs.

With a few players out, Martyn Evans was elevated to the Molesworth II captaincy, but the highlight of this fifth grade match went to Josh Ransley who took the excellent figures of 5-16 off 10 overs. Nice work.
