Youth league cricket

THE Gretna Under 13s scored their first victory of the season with a good win over North Hobart at Gretna on Sunday. Tyrone Bailey again batted very well to remain 43 not out (including seven 4s) while Tyler Scanlon was next best with 29. With the ball Lane Hoscher did well with figures of 1-9 from two overs. The boys have worked very hard and the win was thoroughly deserved.

For the New Norfolk Under 13s, it was a good match with Kingborough who made 1 for 136. Jordan Gittus was the wicket taker, 1-7 off three overs. New Norfolk did very well with the bat, making 115. Coby Kemmler again batted well for his team and remained 17 not out. Jordan Gittus made 15 while Jordan George did some big hitting remaining 10 not out and Emma Watson made 8. Coach Brad Kemmler says his young side is improving weekly.

In the Under 15s, Gretna had their its loss, going down to Wellington at Gretna. Ryan Emery top-scored with 38 (including five 4s) in the team's total of 96. In reply Wellington lost just the two wickets in reaching the total. Jacob Bowerman and Blake Mayne bowled very well, taking a wicket each. Well done again to young Caleb Mayne for filling in for the team.

It was a different story for the New Norfolk Under 15s who had a good win over St Anne's. New Norfolk made 67 with Cody Morgan batting very well and top-scoring on 19. Liam Rowbottom also did well making 10. St Anne's made 56. For the Red Caps Cody Morgan bowled exceptionally well taking 3-14 from six overs as did Rhys Franklin and Nathan Rice who got two each while Jye Bearman got one. A very good win indeed.

Molesworth Under 15s had a great win over the Kingborough Knights. Molesworth made the good score of 189 with J. Fisher-Cooley making an excellent 54 which included six 4s and two 6s. McRoss chipped in with 22. The Knights made 148. J. Nichols and J. Franklin bowled very well taking two wickets each as did J. Fisher-Cooley who picked up one. A very good win for Molesworth.
