Final Flood Warning for the River Derwent
Issued at 2:34pm on Saturday 12 May 2018
Flood Warning Number: 6
Strong river rises have been observed in tributaries of the River Derwent. Further rises are expected at some locations as flows travel downstream, however river levels are expected to remain below minor flood levels. Flooding is not expected in the River Derwent from downstream of Meadowbank Dam to New Norfolk.
No significant rainfall is forecast over the weekend.
Strong and dangerous flows will remain a hazard over the next couple of days.
River Derwent above River Ouse:
River rises are occuring in upper Derwent catchment above River Ouse.
River Ouse:
River rises have been observed in the River Ouse and the Shannon River and river levels are easing during Saturday.
The River Ouse at Ashton peaked below the minor flood level and is currently at 1.13 metres and falling.
River levels observations are not available for the River Ouse at Ouse. However, based on observations at the upstream station River Ouse at 3B Weir, river levels are expected to peak early Saturday afternoon below the minor flood level.
River Clyde:
River rises have been observed in the River Clyde catchment and further rises are expected downstream of Bothwell, including at Hamilton. River levels are expected to remain below minor flood levels.
The River Clyde at Bothwell is currently at 0.80 metres and steady and is expected to peak around this level.
No observations are available for the River Clyde at Hamilton. River levels are expected to rise during Saturday and peak below the minor flood level.
River Derwent above Meadowbank Dam:
No further flooding is expected in the River Derwent above Meadowbank Dam.
Tyenna River:
River levels are easing in the Tyenna River during Saturday.
Styx River:
River levels are easing in the Styx RIver during Saturday.
River Derwent below Meadowbank Dam:
River levels in the River Derwent below Meadowbank Dam and around Macquarie Plains are expected to remain below the minor flood levels.
River Derwent around New Norfolk:
River levels in the River Derwent around New Norfolk are expected to remain below the minor flood level.

Final Flood Watch for the Eastern half of Tasmania

The threat of minor flooding has eased for catchments in the north, northeast, east coast, central and southeast of Tasmania and the Furneaux Islands.
An active low pressure system brought severe weather to the south and east of the state. To 9am Friday widespread rainfall totals of 100 - 150mm were recorded across the southeast with isolated falls exceeding 220 mm. Across the Southern and Central areas rainfall totals for the 24 hours to 9am Saturday have been generally less than 5mm. The North East has received widespread falls of 30 to 40 mm .
Catchments in the southern, eastern and central are now saturated.
No significant rainfall is forecast for the next couple of days.
Strong river rises and localised flooding has been observed across many catchments.
Minor flood warnings are current for the North and South Esk .
In the remainder of the catchments further rises are possible but river levels are expected to remain below minor flood levels. Strong and dangerous flows are still possible in small creeks and low lying areas.
