Mt Lloyd Rd to remain closed during bushfire

CREWS are still in the process of bringing under control a bushfire at Mt Lloyd, where a road closure is likely to remain in place for several days.

While firefighters continue their efforts, police have warned motorists entering the Crosswells Rd/Mt Lloyd Rd area to drive with caution.

"The road is closed between the Hair Pin Bend and Crosswells Rd as indicated by the signs," a police spokesman said earlier today. "The risk of fire has now subsided but there is a continued risk of falling trees. The road is expected to be closed for several days whilst an assessment of the trees are conducted."

Police say an alternative route is available to motorists needing to access the area, via Paddys Flat Rd into Leesons Rd and then onto Plenty Valley Rd.

For road closure updates visit the community announcements section of the Tasmania Police website.
