Derwent flood watch updated

Flood Watch for North West, North and North East, and Derwent catchments

Issued at 5:06pm on Wednesday 18 July 2018, By the Bureau of Meteorology, Hobart.

Minor to moderate flooding is possible from Thursday.

Multiple cold fronts are currently crossing Tasmania bringing significant rainfall across the state.

In the past 48 hours, widespread rainfall totals of 10-30 mm were observed across most of the State, with higher totals of 40-50 mm in isolated and elevated areas.

Most catchments are wet from recent rainfall.

Widespread rainfall totals of 25-75 mm are forecast for the next 24 hours across much of the north, north west, north east, the central plateau and the south; with elevated areas expected to receive up to 100 mm.

A Moderate Flood Warning is current for the North Esk catchment. Minor Flood Warnings are current for Meander, Macquarie and Huon catchments.

Additional areas of minor to moderate flooding are possible with the forecast rainfall. Further catchment specific warnings will be issued if and when required.

Localised flooding is possible in small creeks and low-lying areas that receive heavy rainfall.

South Esk River

Ringarooma River

North Coastal Rivers

Tamar (Launceston)

Mersey River

Forth River

Northwest and Central Coastal Rivers

Arthur River

Derwent River

Jordan River
