Initial Flood Watch for North West, North and North East, Derwent and Huon catchments

Multiple cold fronts will cross Tasmania over the coming three days bringing high rainfall totals. Widespread minor flooding is possible.

A series of vigorous cold fronts will cross the State this week. Highest rainfall totals are expected during Tuesday evening, and from Wednesday afternoon into Thursday.

Most catchments are wet from recent rainfall.

Three-day rainfall totals are expected to exceed 100 mm in the west, north west, parts of the central plateau, and along the Western Tiers. Widespread 30-80 mm totals are forecast for the north and north east catchments, and Huon catchment. Snow is likely at higher elevations.

A Minor Flood Warning is current for the Meander River. Widespread river rises are expected as a result of the forecast rainfall. Minor flooding is likely to develop at a number of locations.

Localised flooding is possible in small creeks and low-lying areas that receive heavy rainfall.

Further catchment specific warnings will be issued if and when required.

Ringarooma River

North Coastal Rivers

Tamar (Launceston)

Mersey River

Forth River

Northwest and Central Coastal Rivers

Arthur River

Huon River

Derwent River

Jordan River
