TODAY, Saturday, March 2, has been declared a Day of Total Fire Ban for the following municipalities: Derwent Valley, Brighton, Hobart, Sorell, Central Highlands, Glamorgan Spring Bay, Huon Valley, Southern Midlands, Clarence, Glenorchy, Kingborough and Tasman.
No fires may be lit or be allowed to remain alight in the open air until 2am, Sunday, March 3.

for the East Coast, Midlands, Upper Derwent Valley, South East, Central Plateau and Western forecast districts
Issued at 11.04pm on Friday 1 March 2019.
Weather Situation: Temperatures in the mid/high thirties, low relative humidity, and west to northwesterly winds averaging 20-30km/h with gusts up to 50km/h are expected about the southeast of Tasmania this afternoon.
Temperatures in the high 30s, low relative humidity, and north to northwesterly winds averaging 25-35km/h with gusts up to 60-70km/h are expected about the southern half of Tasmania on Saturday.
For Saturday, March 2:
Severe Fire Danger is forecast for the following forecast districts: Midlands, Upper Derwent Valley and South East
Very High Fire Danger is forecast for the following forecast districts: East Coast, Central Plateau and Western
The Tasmania Fire Service advises you to:
- Action your Bushfire Survival Plan now.
- Monitor the fire and weather situation through your local radio station, www.fire.tas.gov.au and www.bom.gov.au.
- Call 000 (Triple Zero) in an emergency.
