This is a continuation of the Discovery Ranger Summer Program at Mt Field, where skilled and experienced rangers are offering visitors the chance to join in a wide range of activities such as guided walks, evening talks, childrens' activities and more. There are also Mandarin-speaking rangers on duty to highlight the wonders of the park to Chinese visitors.
Today, Saturday, January 18:
10am - Deadly Discovery Table (2hrs): Meet in front of the Mt Field Visitor Centre. Explore the wonders of an ancient and ongoing culture with Aboriginal Discovery Ranger Tasha.
1.30pm - Yarning Circle (2hrs): Meet at the front of the Mt Field Visitor Centre. Find out about yarning circles and a culture that has survived and thrived for thousands of generations.
Tomorrow, Sunday, January 19:
Noon - Deadly Discovery Table (2hrs): Meet in front of the Mt Field Visitor Centre. Explore the wonders of an ancient and ongoing culture with Aboriginal Discovery Ranger Tasha.
3pm - Storytime with a Sister Girl (1hr): Meet at the front of the Mt Field Visitor Centre. Storytelling is as old as time. Meet up with Aboriginal Discovery Ranger Tasha and share a dreamtime story.
8.30pm - Sunsets and songlines (1hr): Meet at the front of the Visitor Centre. Learn to personalize your own acknowledgement of country in the company of Aboriginal Discovery Ranger Tasha and discuss the difference of a welcome.
All activities are free, but normal park entry fees apply. Remember to bring sun and rain protection, sturdy shoes and a hat for all daytime activities. Programmed activities may be cancelled in bad weather or unsafe conditions - check with the Mt Field Visitor Centre for updates. Children under 15 must be accompanied by an adult.
