Washing your hands for 20 seconds is one of the most effective forms of infection control. Do this after blowing your nose, coughing or sneezing; after close physical contact with anyone who is unwell; after using the toilet; before and after eating; before, during and after preparing food; and after feeding or touching a pet.

Council offers help applying for grants

THE Derwent Valley Council will offer an information session on its community grants program tomorrow (Tuesday).

Community development officer Rebecca Tudor said Round 2 of the council's community grants program was open until 5pm on February 11.

Tomorrow's information session is open to anyone interested in applying for a grant now or in the future, or who has applied previously.

Ms Tudor said the topics covered will include:
  • Understanding the policy, guidelines and selection process
  • Advice for strong applications
  • Avoiding some common pitfalls
  • Where to get additional support
  • Questions and feedback
The one-hour information session will be held at 12.30pm in the council social rooms, Circle St, New Norfolk. "No registrations are necessary. Feel free to bring your lunch to eat during the session," Ms Tudor said.
