Smoky sunset at Granton tonight |
The community fire refuge at Ouse was closed this afternoon, with all intending evacuees in the Derwent Valley now being directed to the refuge at New Norfolk. Numbers at this venue at the Carinya Education Park near New Norfolk High School swelled to 76 on Friday night and all have since returned home or found alternative accommodation. As of 9.30 tonight there were no evacuees in the New Norfolk centre but the facility remains open.
The fire danger rating in this area is forecast to be high. This bushfire is currently not controlled and there may be embers, smoke and ash falling on Fentonbury, National Park, Westerway and New Norfolk. Ellendale, Gretna, Hamilton, Ouse and Meadowbank need to be aware of the fire danger. Monitor ABC Local Radio & http://www.fire.tas.gov.au/ for further instructions.
