Fire danger closes walking tracks

Mt Field National Park

The Parks and Wildlife Service advises that in the interests of public safety, all walking tracks accessible within the Mt Field National Park from Lake Dobson Rd will be temporarily closed between 6pm today (Thursday 3 January 2013) and 6am Saturday 5 January 2013, due to a severe fire danger rating. Temperatures of up to 37 degrees have been predicted along with very strong winds. The Tasmania Fire Service (TFS)  has issued a Total Fire Ban.

The Parks and Wildlife Service Visitor Centre, café, Russell Falls and all walking tracks in the lower area of the park will remain open. For further enquiries please call the Mt Field Visitor Centre on 6288 1149.
