Bushfire closes schools

MOLESWORTH and Collinsvale primary schools will be closed tomorrow (February 7) due to the uncontrolled bushfire at Collins Cap Rd in Molesworth.Community Information:

“The fire danger in this area is forecast to be very high tomorrow and following discussions with the Tasmanian Fire Service, it was agreed that as a precautionary measure the schools would be closed," Education Department deputy secretary Andrew Finch said.

“The Department of Education has organised alternate schooling arrangements for parents who are unable to organise supervised care for their children for the day. Children attending Collinsvale Primary can be dropped off at Glenorchy Primary and Molesworth students will be accommodated at New Norfolk Primary,” Mr Finch said.

Mr Finch said staff from both schools were requested to follow the same arrangements. “It is important that parents not leave their children at home unsupervised. Further information will be provided tomorrow (7 February) in relation to the operation of these schools on Friday," Mr Finch said.
