BOTHWELL I was defeated by Claremont by 65 runs in the preliminary final at Richmond on Saturday. Winning the toss and batting first, Claremont made a defendable 7-221 off its 50 overs. Brock Nichols was the pick of the Bucks’ bowlers, taking 4-29 of his 10 overs with three maidens . Tyler White took 1-35 (10) and Josh Eyles 1-59 (8). In reply, the Bucks were dismissed for 156 off 43 overs. Nathan White top-scored with 34 (one four, three sixes). Kelvin Eyles made 25 (four fours), Cody Eyles 17 (three fours) and Darren Hawes 17 (two fours). It just wasn’t to be for the Bucks and they now bow out of the season. All players much be proud as it sure has been a very big season for the club as a whole.
Eighth Grade
BOTHWELL II went down to St Anne's by eight wickets in the preliminary final at Cambridge Oval on Saturday. The Bucks won the toss and had first hit to be all out for 146 from 43.4 overs. Simon Eyles top-scored with 35, hitting five fours. Mark Pearce made 25 (three fours) and captain Anthony White scored 13 with one four. In reply, St Anne's got the job done easily, finishing 2-152 off 23.1 overs. Wicket takers for Bothwell were Brodie Eyles with 1-38 (5) and Stuart Eyles with 1-18 (3). Although they didn’t get to the big one next week, Bothwell has done very well and all players must hold their heads high.
