The Derwent Valley Council this year awarded a $130,000 contract to Sydney-based consultants For the People for the development of a Derwent Valley brand. The agency had recently developed a branding strategy for the state's West Coast.
Following a community consultation phase involving sessions in New Norfolk, Molesworth and Westerway last September, and on Facebook, the consultants have been developing concepts to present to the public. Originally expected to be presented this month, the public exhibitions will now take place on January 16-17.
The exhibitions, at New Norfolk and National Park, will allow people to come and go as it suits them throughout the day, along with two presentations by For the People consultants each day, discussing their concepts and a "brand toolkit" to help attract tourism and investment to the region.
The exhibitions will be held at:
- National Park Hotel, Gordon River Rd, National Park, Thursday, January 16, 10am-8pm. Formal presentations at 1pm and 7pm. More information: www.facebook.com/events/2614975465455686/
- Derwent Valley Council social rooms, Circle St, New Norfolk, Friday, January 17, 9am-7pm. Formal presentations at noon and 6pm. More information: www.facebook.com/events/1825535061079086/
