Police say the woman, aged 46, was struck by a reversing car while crossing Argyle St, North Hobart. "The collision, near the corner of Argyle and Tasma streets, occurred when the woman was crossing the road. She was hit by a reversing Hyundai Tuscon SUV which was about to be loaded onto a
car carrier trailer."
The woman suffered serious leg injuries and was taken to hospital in a stable condition. The driver of the Hyundai was a 57-year-old man from Devonport. He was not injured.
Multiple police and ambulance units attended the scene, along with forensic services and crash investigation services. Argyle St was closed between Tasma Street and Burnett Street for about two hours while investigations were undertaken.
"Police would like to thank motorists for their patience during this time. Anyone who witnessed the collision or who has dash cam footage of the incident is asked to contact police," a spokesman said.
