Tasmania Police today (Wednesday) released security camera vision which shows two men entering the shop area at the Montagu St business, with one of them appearing to carry a gun. The men place a blockage in the doorway to prevent the doors from closing, and then proceed inside.
As part of the ongoing investigation into the incident which took place at about 2am last Friday, police are seeking information about public sightings or camera vision of a silver Toyota Corolla hatchback, registration number DH7421, which was allegedly used by the offenders. The vehicle was later found on fire in Jackson St, Glenorchy.
Police are also seeking public information to identify one of the two men involved in the robbery. He was dressed in dark clothing, had a balaclava covering his face, and allegedly threatened staff with a shortened firearm before fleeing the scene with a quantity of money.
The second man involved, a 22-year-old from Herdsmans Cove, has appeared before the Hobart Magistrates Court charged with aggravated armed robbery, aggravated assault and evade police. He was remanded in custody until 3 February 2020.
Anyone with information in relation to the robbery, or dashcam or smartphone vision of the Corolla around the time of the robbery, is asked to contact Tasmania Police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers anonymously on 1800 333 000.
