Minor Flood Warning for the River Derwent

Issued at 5:18 pm on Monday 3 October 2016

Flood Warning Number: 9
Minor flooding is expected to redevelop in the Ouse River Monday evening, with water levels likely to peak higher than last Friday flood peaks. Minor flooding may redevelop in the Clyde and Lower Derwent rivers overnight Monday.
Renewed rises throughout the catchment are occurring Monday as a response to rainfall observed overnight Sunday into Monday.
Rainfall totals in the range of 10 to 70 mm were observed in the River Derwent catchment in the 24 hours to 9AM Monday. The highest rainfall total in the Derwent catchment since 9AM has been 12.8mm at Pine Tree Rivulet.
Strong flows will remain a hazard throughout the Derwent catchment for the next few days.

River Derwent above River Ouse:

River levels remain high remain high the upper reaches of the River Derwent above the River Ouse. Renewed rises are occur during Monday.

River Ouse:

Minor flooding is expected to redevelop along the River Ouse during Monday.
The River Ouse at Ashton is currently at 1.42 metres and rising. The River Ouse at Ashton is expected to again exceed the minor flood level (2.40 m) Monday evening. The river level may peak between 2.80 and 3.10 metres overnight Monday into Tuesday.
The River Ouse at Ouse is expected to again exceed the minor flood level (4.00 m) Monday evening.

River Clyde:

Minor flooding may redevelop along the River Clyde during Monday.
The River Clyde at Bothwell is currently at 1.40 metres and steady. The River Clyde at Bothwell may exceed the minor flood level (2.00 m) overnight Monday into Tuesday.
The River Clyde at Hamilton may exceed the minor flood level (2.40 m) during Monday.

River Derwent above Meadowbank Dam:

Renewed rises are likely in the middle reaches of the River Derwent above Meadowbank Dam Monday and Tuesday.

Tyenna River:

Renewed river rises are occurring in the Tyenna River Monday.


Styx River:

Renewed river rises are occurring in the Styx River Monday.

River Derwent below Meadowbank Dam:

Minor flooding is likely to redevelop along the River Derwent below Meadowbank Dam.
The River Derwent below Meadowbank Dam is currently at 2.83 metres and steady. The River Derwent below Meadowbank Dam may exceed the minor flood level (4.10 m) overnight Monday into Tuesday.
The River Derwent at Macquarie Plains is currently at 1.95 metres and steady. The River Derwent at Macquarie Plains may reach the minor flood level (4.00 m) overnight Monday into Tuesday.

River Derwent around New Norfolk:

Renewed river rises may occur along the River Derwent around New Norfolk.
The River Derwent at New Norfolk is currently at 0.75 metres and falling. The River Derwent at New Norfolk is likely to remain below the minor flood level (2.00 m) overnight Monday into Tuesday.
