Initial Minor Flood Warning for the River Derwent

Flood Warning Number: 1
Minor flooding is likely to develop in the middle and lower reaches of the River Derwent during Monday. Minor flooding is not expected to extend downstream to New Norfolk.
Lake King William continues to spill resulting in elevated river levels downstream.
Rainfall totals of 20 to 40mm are forecast for the remainder of Sunday, with another 20 to 40mm likely on Monday about the upper part of the catchment. Higher totals are possible about elevated areas.
Strong flows will remain a hazard throughout the Derwent catchment for the next few days.

River Derwent above River Ouse:

River rises are expected in the upper River Derwent overnight Sunday into Monday. Lake King William continues to spill resulting in elevated river levels downstream.

River Ouse:

River levels are expected to remain below minor flood levels in the River Ouse overnight Sunday into Monday.

The River Ouse at Ashton is currently at 1.08 metres and steady.

River Clyde:

River levels are expected to remain below minor flood levels in the River Clyde overnight Sunday into Monday.

The River Clyde at Bothwell is currently at 1.18 metres and steady.

River Derwent above Meadowbank Dam:

River rises are expected in the upper River Derwent overnight Sunday into Monday.

Tyenna River:

River rises are expected in the Tyenna River overnight Sunday into Monday.

Styx River:

River rises are expected in the Styx River overnight Sunday into Monday.

River Derwent below Meadowbank Dam:

Minor flooding is likely along the River Derwent below Meadowbank Dam.

The River Derwent below Meadowbank Dam is currently at 3.51 metres and rising. The River Derwent below Meadowbank Dam is likely to exceed the minor flood level (4.10 m) Monday morning. The river level may peak between 4.60 and 4.90 metres Monday evening.
The River Derwent at Macquarie Plains is currently at 2.40 metres and falling. The River Derwent at Macquarie Plains may reach the minor flood level (4.00 m) overnight Monday into Tuesday.

River Derwent around New Norfolk:

Minor flooding is not expected to extend downstream to New Norfolk.

The River Derwent at New Norfolk is currently at 1.08 metres and rising. The River Derwent at New Norfolk is expected to remain below the minor flood level (2.00 m) during Monday.
