Minor Flood Warning for the River Derwent
Issued at 10:02am on Tuesday 4 October 2016
Flood Warning Number: 10
Minor flooding may occur again along the River Derwent below Meadowbank Dam Tuesday.
The Ouse River peaked overnight Monday into Tuesday and levels are now easing .
Renewed rises throughout the upper parts of the catchment are occurring as a response to rainfall observed in the last few days.
Rainfall totals in the range of 10 to 40 mm were observed in the upper River Derwent catchment in the 24 hours to 9AM Tuesday. Further rainfall in the range of 10 to 20 mm is forecast during Tuesday into Wednesday.
Strong flows will remain a hazard throughout the Derwent catchment for the next few days.
River Derwent above River Ouse:
River levels will remain high along the upper reaches of the River Derwent above the River Ouse during Tuesday.
River Ouse:
Minor flooding is expected to continue easing along the River Ouse on Tuesday.
The River Ouse at Ashton peaked at 2.41 metres around 11:00 pm Monday 03 October and is currently at 2.10 metres and falling. The River Ouse at Ashton will remain below the minor flood level (2.40 m) during Tuesday.River Clyde:
River levels expected to remain below Minor flooding along the River Clyde during Tuesday.
The River Clyde at Bothwell is currently at 1.38 metres and steady. The River Clyde at Bothwell will remain below the minor flood level (2.00 m) during Tuesday.River Derwent above Meadowbank Dam:
Renewed rises are likely in the middle reaches of the River Derwent above Meadowbank Dam Tuesday.
Tyenna River:
River levels are expected to continue easing along the Tyenna River Tuesday.
Styx River:
River levels are expected to continue easing along the Styx River Tuesday.
River Derwent below Meadowbank Dam:
Minor flooding may occur along the River Derwent below Meadowbank Dam.
The River Derwent below Meadowbank Dam is currently at 3.68 metres and rising. The River Derwent below Meadowbank Dam may exceed the minor flood level (4.10 m) Tuesday morning.The River Derwent at Macquarie Plains is currently at 2.12 metres and rising. The River Derwent at Macquarie Plains is expected to remain below the minor flood level (4.00 m) during Tuesday.
River Derwent around New Norfolk:
River levels expected to remain below minor flood levels around New Norfolk Tuesday.
The River Derwent at New Norfolk is currently at 1.30 metres and rising. The River Derwent at New Norfolk is expected to remain below the minor flood level (2.00 m) during Tuesday.Flood Safety Advice:
