Minor Flood Warning for the River Derwent

Flood Warning Number: 8

Minor flooding is expected to redevelop in the Ouse River Monday afternoon, with water levels likely to peak higher than last Friday flood peaks. Minor flooding may redevelop in the Clyde and Lower Derwent rivers later on Monday.

Renewed rises throughout the catchment are likely to occur during Monday as a response to rainfall observed overnight Sunday into Monday.

Rainfall totals in the range of 10 to 70 mm were observed in the River Derwent catchment in the 24 hours to 9am Monday. Further rainfall in the range of 5 to 20mm may occur during Monday into Tuesday.

Strong flows will remain a hazard throughout the Derwent catchment for the next few days.

River Derwent above River Ouse:

River levels remain high remain high the upper reaches of the River Derwent above the River Ouse. Renewed rises are likely to occur during Monday.

River Ouse:

Minor flooding is expected to redevelop along the River Ouse during Monday.

The River Ouse at Ashton is currently at 1.38 metres and steady. The River Ouse at Ashton is expected to again exceed the minor flood level (2.40 m) late Monday afternoon. The river level may peak between 2.80 and 3.10 metres overnight Monday into Tuesday.

The River Ouse at Ouse is expected to again exceed the minor flood level (4.00 m) Monday evening.

River Clyde:

Minor flooding may redevelop along the River Clyde during Monday.

The River Clyde at Bothwell is currently at 1.40 metres and steady. The River Clyde at Bothwell may exceed the minor flood level (2.00 m) again Monday afternoon.

The River Clyde at Hamilton may exceed the minor flood level (2.40 m) during Monday.

River Derwent above Meadowbank Dam:

Renewed rises are likely in the middle reaches of the River Derwent above Meadowbank Dam during Monday.

Tyenna River:

Renewed river rises are likely in the Tyenna River during Monday.

Styx River:

Renewed river rises are likely in the Styx River during Monday.

River Derwent below Meadowbank Dam:

Minor flooding is likely to redevelop along the River Derwent below Meadowbank Dam.

The River Derwent below Meadowbank Dam is currently at 2.90 metres and steady. The River Derwent below Meadowbank Dam is likely to again exceed the minor flood level (4.10 m) Monday evening.

The River Derwent at Macquarie Plains is currently at 1.98 metres and steady. The River Derwent at Macquarie Plains may reach the minor flood level (4.00 m) Monday evening.

River Derwent around New Norfolk:

Renewed river rises may occur along the River Derwent around New Norfolk.

The River Derwent at New Norfolk is currently at 1.28 metres and rising. The River Derwent at New Norfolk is likely to remain below the minor flood level (2.00 m) during Monday.
