Minor Flood Warning for the River Derwent
Issued at 9:03am on Friday 22 July 2016
Flood Warning Number: 2High levels of minor flooding are likely to develop in the lower reaches of the River Derwent below Meadowbank Dam during Friday afternoon. Minor flooding may develop throughout the River Ouse in response to heavy rainfall about the north of the State. River rises are likely in most other tributaries during Friday.
Widespread rainfall totals of 10 to 15 mm have been observed about the Derwent catchment in the 12 hours to 9AM Friday. Further rainfall of 5 to 10mm is possible for the remainder of Friday.
Strong and dangerous flows may be a hazard throughout the Derwent catchment during the weekend.
River Derwent above River Ouse:
River rises may occur in the upper reaches of the River Derwent during Friday.
River Ouse:
Minor flooding may occur along the River Ouse.
The River Ouse at Ashton may exceed the minor flood level (2.40 m) Friday afternoon.River Clyde:
River rises may occur in the Clyde River, with river levels expected to remain below minor flood levels.
River Derwent above Meadowbank Dam:
Minor flooding may develop in the middle reaches of the River Derwent during Friday evening.
Tyenna River:
River rises are possible in the Tyenna River during Friday.
Styx River:
River rises are possible in the Styx River during Friday.
River Derwent below Meadowbank Dam:
High levels of minor flooding are expected along the River Derwent below Meadowbank Dam.
The River Derwent below Meadowbank Dam is expected to exceed the minor flood level (4.10 m) Friday afternoon.The River Derwent at Macquarie Plains is likely to exceed the minor flood level (4.00 m) Friday evening.
River Derwent around New Norfolk:
Minor flooding may occur along the River Derwent around New Norfolk.
The River Derwent at New Norfolk may exceed the minor flood level (2.00 m) Saturday morning.Flood Safety Advice:
