SFL Round 17 preview

Southern Football League match preview
Round 17 - Provided by SFL League Management

New Norfolk v Hobart at Boyer Oval, 2pm Saturday
With New Norfolk moving up into the top three on the ladder, and with the Tigers experiencing big losses in the last three rounds, it is likely that the Eagles will come out on top this weekend.

New Norfolk had a slow start to the season, but in recent weeks has been playing great football and now sees itself having a real chance in the finals just like in seasons past. The Tigers have been lacking in recent weeks and it would do the team good to have a win this week and move back into top five contentions.

Hobart has shown its their strengths throughout the season but inconsistency has been a major issue and it would be good to see a determined performance against the Eagles this weekend.

New Norfolk to be selected from: S. Bonnitcha, J. Campbell, J. Gunther, R. Heron, J. Wigg, B. King, A. Burgess, N. Eiszele, M. Murray, J. Taylor-Evans, K. Hansen, B. Wardlaw, B. Lovell, N. Lester, C. Curtain, J. King, R. Thompson, J. Murray, L. Joseph, N. Clayton, R. Belcher, T. Eiszele, M. Thompson.

Hobart to be selected from: R. Hugo, D. Huxley, J. McGee, M. Flanagan, C. Newman, S. Paterson, C. Murphy, M. Fitze, L. Sullivan, B. Apted, J. Campbell, S. Gray, A. Henderson, B. Goninon, M. Nichols, C. Leek, M. Woods, A. Stephens, M. Young, B. Allie, S. Reeves, S. Bradford.

Other games:

Claremont v Dodges Ferry at Abbotsfield, 2pm
The Magpies will be focused on catching up to ladder leaders Lindisfarne, and playing against Dodges Ferry in Round 17 will most likely land them another win and one step closer to the top of the ladder.

Lindisfarne v Sorell at Anzac Park, 2pm
The Two Blues sit at the top of the ladder undefeated and Sorell is at the bottom of the ladder after a disappointing season to date.

Brighton v Huonville at Pontville, 2pm
It’s likely that the Lions will win with their position on the ladder and past games against the Robins but it would be good to see Brighton make it a tough game in front of its home crowd.
