Update 4: Moderate flood warning

Moderate Flood Warning for the River Derwent

Flood Warning Number: 4

Moderate flooding is expected to develop in the lower Derwent catchment below Meadowbank Dam and around Macquarie Plains during Friday. Minor flooding is likely to develop around New Norfolk during Friday afternoon.
In the 24 hours to 9AM Friday rainfall totals of up to 77 mm were recorded in the lower River Derwent catchment and up to 65mm in the upper River Derwent. Snow melt is expected to maintain flood levels during Friday.
Strong and dangerous flows may be a hazard throughout the Derwent catchment during Friday.


River Derwent above River Ouse:

Strong river rises are likely throughout the Upper Derwent catchment during Friday.


River Ouse:

River rises were observed overnight Thursday but minor flooding is not expected in the River Ouse.
River levels are expected remain below the Minor flood level at Ashton.
River levels are expected remain below the Minor flood level at Ouse.


River Clyde:

Minor flooding is not expected in the River Clyde.
River levels are expected remain below the Minor flood level at Bothwell.
River levels are expected remain below the Minor flood level at Hamilton.


River Derwent above Meadowbank Dam:

Minor flooding is continuing in the middle reaches of the River Derwent during Friday.


Tyenna River:

Strong rises are likely to continue in the Tyenna River during Friday.


Styx River:

Minor flooding is expected to continue in the Styx River during Friday.


River Derwent below Meadowbank Dam:

Moderate flooding is expected along the River Derwent below Meadowbank Dam.
The River Derwent below Meadowbank Dam exceeded the minor flood level (4.10 metres) around 1AM Friday, is currently at 5.84 metres and rising. The River Derwent below Meadowbank Dam is expected to peak between 5.90 and 6.10 metres early Friday afternoon.
The River Derwent at Macquarie Plains exceeded the minor flood level (4.00 metres) around 8:30AM Friday, is currently at 4.38 metres and rising. The River Derwent at Macquarie Plains is expected to peak between 4.80 and 5.10 metres Friday afternoon.


River Derwent around New Norfolk:

Minor flooding is expected along the River Derwent around New Norfolk.
The River Derwent at New Norfolk is currently at 1.70 metres and rising. The River Derwent at New Norfolk is expected to exceed the minor flood level (2.00 m) Friday afternoon. The river level is likely to peak between 2.00 and 2.20 metres Friday evening.
