Cancellation of
Severe Weather Warning
for people in the Upper Derwent Valley, King Island, Furneaux Islands, North West Coast, Central North, North East, Western, Central Plateau, Midlands, East Coast and South East forecast districts

Weather Situation
Fresh to strong and gusty west to southwesterly winds are currently affecting Tasmania as a low pressure system lies to the southeast of the state. The winds will ease further tonight as the low moves southeast away from Tasmania.
The Severe Weather Warning for the King Island, Furneaux Islands, North West Coast, Central North, North East, Western, Central Plateau, Midlands, East Coast, Upper Derwent Valley and South East forecast districts has been cancelled, but the situation will continue to be monitored and further warnings will be issued if necessary.
In the 6 hours the highest wind gusts were 137 km/h at Cape Grim, 131 km/h at Scotts Peak, 115 km/h at Mount Read and Maatsuyker island, 107 km/h at Mt Wellington, Hartz Mountains and Low Rocky Point.
The State Emergency Service and Tasmania Police advise that people should:
- Supervise children closely
- Do not walk, ride or drive through flood waters
- Beware of damaged trees and power lines and take care when driving
- Listen to the ABC radio or check www.ses.tas.gov.au for further advice
- For flood and storm emergency assistance, contact the SES on 132 500
No further warnings will be issued for this event.
